This one-day, theory-based, classroom-only, instructor-lead course is intended for operators of vacuum trucks in the upstream petroleum industry. The course is the result of a collaborative effort of regulators, industry members from the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC) and subject matter experts who use vacuum trucks on a daily basis. The information contained in the course will provide operators with the basic information they need to work in the upstream industry. Successful candidates need to continue their training with their employers on the specific types of equipment, tasks and hazards they will be exposed to on the job site. Topics covered include a review of professional and defensive driving, fatigue management, legislation, components and basic procedures, hazards, inspections and trip planning. There is an emphasis on safety throughout the course.
