Description
As part of Enform's Safety Management Program, this course is designed for the rig manager, wellsite supervisor, drilling engineer or drilling superintendent responsible for the development and supervision of well control operations in the field.
During this five-day course, each student is given the opportunity to perform well control procedures and demonstrate the proper response to hole and equipment problems using test well equipment. Test well training is taught at the Nisku campus.
In Saskatchewan, the SLSWC - Test Well Course is three days classroom + ½ day for the exam at the college location, then the Test Well practical day is conducted in Nisku the same weekend. Test Well sessions timing is determined with the instructor/students the 1st day of classes. Travel to Nisku is at the student's expense.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to identify the appropriate techniques for supervising people and practices and the management procedures necessary for proper operation of equipment used in well control. Participants will also be able to apply wellbore pressure concepts, and well control strategies while on bottom, tripping and while out of the hole. Certificates for this course are valid for two years.
Note:
- Students may attend this program up to three months in advance of the expiry of their certification. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive their new certifcates, dated two years from the expiry of their old certificates.
- If the written exam mark is between 60% and 69%, the student may rewrite the exam one time only within 30 days of the first exam. Rewrite fees apply.
- All exams with marks between 65% and 69% will have the mark verified.
- If the exam mark is below 60%, or both exam results are a failing grade, the student need only repeat the classroom portion of the course and rewrite the exam. The classroom repeat should be done within 90 days of the second failure.
- Test Well failures should be rescheduled within 30 days of the course
